Editing – what's included?
Universities and other educational institutions, for good reason, have strict guidelines and comprehensive guidance on what is and what is not acceptable regarding professional editorial intervention in assessed student work.
To be clear and transparent from the start, the following lists explain what – in general – I can and cannot do for you.
I will
I won't
* If I notice a problem, I will prompt you with a query to look at that section of the text, for you to determine what should be done.
Please note that I will not directly enter a solution in the text, but, where appropriate, I will offer suggestions or examples to guide you.
If your university requires a different level of intervention from what I describe above then I will always follow your university's guidelines. For example, if a university forbids the correction of spelling errors but allows such errors to be pointed out, I will only indicate to you where a spelling error occurs.
